Layered teCtoniC disruptions in the sedimentary Cover of platforms and some praCtiCal ConsequenCes
Abstract
Relevance. In accordance with modern tectonic concepts, lithospheric plates have been considered as rather rigid rheologically homogeneous passive plates. It is believed that horizontal compression plays a significant structural role only in areas adjacent to mobile belts. In the inner regions of the plates, the formation of dislocations of the sedimentary cover is usually explained by differentiated vertical movements of the basement blocks, deforming the sedimentary cover. The presented work provides information on intraformational layered disruptions and related tectonic deformations developed in the sedimentary cover of the platforms. Clarifying the features of their structure and conditions of formation allows us to obtain important information about the geodynamic situation of the formation of dislocations in the platform cover, and may also contribute to solving some applied problems. The aim of the research is to study layered tectonic disruptions and related deformations in the sedimentary section of the platform territories, as well as the causes of their formation. Methods. The study of the wave pattern captured on seismic time sections made it possible to obtain information about the morphology of subhorizontal faults and related folded dislocations. For a deeper understanding of the structure of buried tectonic faults and the correct diagnosis of seismic data, we used the information that was obtained when studying similar dislocations in natural outcrops of Cenozoic deposits of the Turanian Plate. The data on tectonic disturbances in the sedimentary cover obtained during drilling of deep wells are attracted. The textural features of the disintegrated rock interiors found in the core material are considered, and their nature is determined. The results of special hydrodynamic studies at hydrocarbon deposits have provided valuable information on layer- by-layer disruptions. Results. The widespread development of intraformational layered disruptions in the plate complex of platform territories is substantiated, indicating the important role of horizontal tectonic movements in the formation of intraplate dislocations. Responsible for their formation are tectonic impulses transmitted to the boundaries of the platforms from adjacent mobile belts. The results obtained make it possible to take a new approach to solving a number of applied problems in the search and exploration of hydrocarbon deposits and other minerals.
