Abstract

Geological-tectonic structures of mountainous regions of western part of the South Caucasus are considered. In example of geological map prepared by joint efforts of Turkish and Georgian specialists results those can be obtained by large-scale (1:50 000‑1:25 000) are shown. In turn, analysis of information derived from the data from satellite imagery, allowed to describe regional characteristics of the geological structure (line faults, sections unconformable contact of geological units, the full range of ring structures). Comparison of the materials of the two approaches of geological structures investigation allowed to understand features of structure of the upper crust in this region, and highlight not only the nature of the constituent rock lithology, but also the functioning of countervailing trends magmatic and tectonic processes of geodynamics of the territory.
