Abstract

Basis of complex monitoring of the territory as a single geological object or set of features with the genesis, structure, composition and physical state of such objects, and a number of key indicators or characteristics, such as tectonic, seismic, magnetic, etc. are considered. It requires the development of appropriate monitoring types and hence its component elements. Basic types of monitoring, the use of which may allow adequately assess certain characteristics of the environment of the investigated region are supposed: seismic monitoring, monitoring of variations of electromagnetic field, crustal movements, etc., correlated with dangerous geological processes and define them. The examples of modern monitoring systems used in the North Caucasus are given. A particular challenge is, for example, in monitoring not only a well-defined in many ways the area is wellknown Vladikavkaz fault, but determining the spatial orientation and stretch the boundaries supposed Ardon fault. Active monitoring should allow to significantly reduce the risk of accidents on real objects (construction in urban areas, infrastructure, Zaramag hydro-electric power station, gas pipeline, etc.) analyzing the monitoring of these processes.
